To give you some background of my musical journey, I began my musical journey at the age of 9 and I have always been drawn and passionate about music and the Church. That is when I began learning piano.
When I was about 12, I attended the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Owen Sound, with my grandma. Shortly after being confirmed I joined the choir, affirming my love of music and the Church. I knew right then what I was called to do. So from there, I began lessons from the choir director and organist. I watched every move she made on the organ and piano.
Jump ahead to when I was about 15 or 16, I played my first service at the Lutheran Church. Shortly after that, when the previous organist retired, I became a full-time organist there and stayed in the role there for about 6 years.
Since 2017, I have been a member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) Grey Bruce Centre.
After I finished high school in 2019, I attended Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario, receiving my degree in piano performance. However, because it was an interest of mine, I also received organ lessons and engaged in choral conducting, in addition to my other regular studies in the program.
When I graduated from Cambrian College in 2022, I moved back to Owen Sound at the beginning of 2024. Shortly after this, I embarked as the organist and choir director at Lucknow United Church.
Since 2023, I have served on the executive of the RCCO Grey Bruce Centre, serving two years as Vice President. Last year, I was elected as Centre President and I have enjoyed every aspect of working with and around such an amazing group of musicians.
My music of interest is mostly focused around the classical and romantic eras. This includes composers such as: Bach, Mozart, Handel, and Schumann. Aside from the classics, my favourite thing to play is the hymns of the Church, reflective of a variety of denominations. My favourite organists are Paul Fey and Diane Bish.
