The Rev. Brendon Bedford joined community of Christ Church, Meaford as the parish's Assistant Curate on May 1, 2022. The Bishop appointed him the Rector of the parish on June 2, 2024.
Fr. Brendon is originally from Scarborough, Ontario where he lived until departing for post-secondary studies, having worshiped at St. Jude's Anglican Church, Wexford. He studied Political Science and Music at the University of Waterloo, being granted an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Co-op) degree and a Master of Arts degree (Political Science), and was active in the St. Bede's Chapel community at Rension University College.
After a period of time working within the Government of Ontario, Brendon relocated to Kitchener and began work in Advancement and Alumni Affairs at Renison University College, the Anglican affiliated college at the University of Waterloo, where he worked to build and support relationships between the College and various stakeholders. He also served on the college's Board of Governors as the Staff Representative.
During this time, Brendon discerned a call to ordained ministry in the Anglican Church and began his seminary education at Huron University College, being granted a Master of Divinity degree with distinction in 2022.
Brendon was ordained to the Holy Order of Deacons on the Feast of St. Andrew in 2021 and began to serve as Deacon Assistant to the Rector at the Church of the Holy Saviour, Waterloo.
Fr. Brendon was appointed by the Bishop as Assistant Curate of Christ Church, Meaford in May 2022, where he relocated with his wife and two children. Bishop Todd Townshend ordained Brendon to the Holy Order of Priests on the Eve of Pentecost in 2022 at St. George's Anglican Church, Owen Sound.
Fr. Brendon is passionate about liturgy and sacred music in the Anglican tradition, sharing the Gospel message in relationship with others, growing and serving the parish community, and engaging with the wider community around the parish with an eye to mission and service.
In 2023, Brendon was appointed by the Bishop as the Chaplain to the Brotherhood of Anglican Churchmen (Diocese of Huron) and, from 2023-2024, served as a board member of the Grey Bruce Spiritual Care Council.
Fr. Brendon is also an ardent Toronto Maple Leafs fan who believes there is something to be learned about Christian patience, waiting, and hope by supporting this team.
